I can’t believe we’re less than two weeks away from Christmas and three weeks away from New Year’s. This year has been a whirlwind of frenzied activity, packed with work, travel, gardening, chickens, dogs, cats, and cooking. If I can say anything about the past 11 months, it’s that they were productive. The height of the holiday workload is nearly passed, though, and at the end of the month I’m going to make myself a delicious drink, sit back, put on some Ella Fitzgerald, enjoy the lights from the Christmas tree and my roaring fireplace, and relax. I feel like unwinding at the end of a long day with a little bubbly is a wonderful treat, and this cocktail certainly fits the bill.

I took home a delicious raspberry liqueur from my trip to Washington last month, and mixed it along with some tangy cranberry juice, sparkling white wine, and US-grown and fresh-picked Hangar 1 Straight Vodka. Hangar 1 Vodka is based in an old airplane hangar in Alameda, California, and uses fresh grains and grapes from here in the US to distill their fresh and slightly floral spirit. It balanced the cocktail perfectly, with the cranberry juice adding a mildly tart kick to the dry white wine, and the raspberry liqueur bringing a subtle sweetness in the finish. The color of the drink is especially beautiful, too, and makes for a festive addition to the holiday table. I know what I’ll be making at my Christmas party…

Cran-Raspberry Sparkler Cocktail

Course Drinks
Servings 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1 big jigger 1 1/2 ounces Hangar 1 Straight Vodka
  • 8 ounces sparkling white wine like prosecco
  • 1 big jigger 1 1/2 ounces raspberry liqueur
  • 4 ounces cranberry juice

Instructions

  1. Add the raspberry liqueur and Hangar 1 Straight Vodka to the sparkling white wine and stir twice to incorporate. Add the cranberry juice and stir until combined. Serve immediately.
