Steamed Clams with White Wine + Lemon Juice

  • 1 cup white wine
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon tomato paste
  • 15 fresh whole clams
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large tomato chopped
  • 1 shallot diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley


  1. In a medium sized pot whisk together the wine, wanter, lemon juice, and tomato paste over medium heat until the tomato paste has disintegrated into the liquid. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Cover, and cook for 10 minutes until the clams pop open. Remove from heat and serve immediately.
