To make the old bay seasoning, place all of the seasoning ingredients in a coffee grinder and blend them until they form a smooth powdered spice. Set it aside.

To make the crab cakes, simply mix all of the ingredients together in a large bowl until thoroughly blended and the ingredients are evenly distributed. Create the crab cakes by patting some of the crab mixture between the palms of your hand until a nice patty forms.

Heat some oil in a frying pan until a crumb of crab cake dropped into the oil starts bubbling and frying. Lower the heat to maintain the temperature and place as many of the crab cakes in the pan as you can while maintaining at least 1 inch of space between the crab cakes. Cook them for about 3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. Remove them with a metal of wood slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb the excess oil. Serve immediately.
