In a large bowl mix together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and baking soda. Mix until blended, then set aside.
-
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream together the butter and sugar at medium speed until smooth.
-
Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract and mix until smooth. Slowly add the flour mixture and mix until just incorporated. Stir in the diced pears and pour into a well-greased and lightly floured bundt pan. Place in oven and bake to 1 hour and 5 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes. Remove and allow to cool until warm before flipping the pan onto a wire rack to remove the cake and cool completely.
-
To make the candied pear, brush the pear with the simple syrup and sprinkle with the superfine sugar. Once coated, place on a wire rack to dry.
-
Now you can make the glaze. Whisk together all of the ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bundt cake, top with the candied pear, and serve.
